If you read our information about what happened to Zurichs gay scene in the last year you may think all our parties are dead. Well, I won't write so much if I had no hope for the future. In fact there is no law against homosexuality in Switzerland and gay sex between adults is legal. We think its only a political act of over-regulation because our dear Mrs. police minister believes in a world where homosexuality means only holding hands.
It's a pity that our famous club Labyrinth was closed-down. The reasons are obviously stupid. There were no real problems with loud music, hygiene, order and decency or violence. Nobody ever complained about gay sex in a gay party. They just cought one of the club owners with some drugs and because this wasn't enough they searched for other reasons to close-down his club after 13 years of happyness.
Everywhere in the world there are clubs where some people take drugs and honestly almost every club owner has his own drug experiences. Sex belongs to homosexuality and it's stupid to think that you can be gayfriendly while forbidding gays to be gay. Obviously Zurichs police has a problem with violent drunken clubbers in front of some hetero clubs. They are forced to show results and it seams to be easier to catch some friendly, half-naked gays smoking a joint than to do anything against the really bad guys that may strike back with a hidden knife.
Currently there are quite a lot of gay parties in town. The parties are o.k. You can have fun, good music, and plenty of legal alcohol to puke legally all over the street if you like. There is also one darkroom left in town: The upper floor of
T&M, a smaller everyday gay club in the old town that features pop, gay classics and good drag shows and
Aaah with a small dancefloor and sound from hip-hop till progressive trance. The famous parties in Zurich West (
Shaft @ Labitzke and
Lotus @ ex. Laby) and the new clubs
Loop38 and
JIM @ Kaufleuten are still free of sex. If the security guys see two men enter a toilet together they will kick their asses out of the club. The same happens to gays catched taking drugs. Some clubs like Loop38 are also equipped with video surveillance where Big Brother is watching you all time.
If you want to have gay sex at a fetish theme party you must leave Zurich: The bad boys meet at
Rage in Schlieren that's a big cruising club just a step beyond the city limits.
So after all we hope that our protest will change something in the mind of Zurichs politicians. Its not long ago we were one of the most tolerant places on Earth and we want to go back to love and tolerance!
