Gay Parties in Zurich

Maybe it's time to give you a short overview of Zurich's gay party life:

Within the last year there were many changes. The police closed some clubs and the newly achieved partnership law opened up new ways of thinking. Being gay in Zurich is now nothing special anymore. Gays can go to hetero clubs as well as heteros are welcome in almost every gay club.

While the reached acceptance of our lifestyle is a great goal for the daily life, the real gaylife lost it's identity for it. The former wild and sexy gay clubs opened up their doors for everybody and gave up their hot and horny atmosphere for a concept made for mainstream people.

Almost every gay bar and club in Zurich took down their rainbow flags and cut away the "for gays and friends" line of their flyers and websites to attract a new mixed crowd. The result is that these gay bars and clubs are not gay anymore and there are many people who don't even know where they are having a drink.

There have always been heteros in our gay clubs, but once they knew they were guests in a different world and had to respect our lifestyle as it was. So we had together great fun - but after our own rules. Since now nobody tells the heteros where they are the freedom of gaylife has gone. You can still give your friend a kiss in "gay club" as you can do it everywhere on Zurich's streets. But you can not give him a blow job because the hetero guests would not appreciate this kind of behaviour.

So the scene split into mixed bars and dance clubs where you have to behave and some sex clubs where you come to fuck but don't dance.

The last venue with a rainbow flag is the gayhotel "Goldenes Schwert" with the daily gay clubs T&M and Aaah - mostly gay but quite small. The gay only place for sex is Rage in Schlieren (west of Zurich). On Wednesday there is the Heldenbar at Provitreff for gays and friends. The Labyrinth Club changed completely into a mixed club from Friday till Sunday. At the place of the ancient Aera is now a club called Labitzke with mostly hetero parties. Only once a month there is the Shaft-Party at Labitzke that's still a real gay event with naked skin, sweat and hot and horny atmosphere (my favorite!) where you still can celebrate a night like it was in the "good old times" of 2004.
